Last December on 14 until 18, 2009 Zaitun Time Series participated in Asia Pacific Alliance ICT Awards 2009 (APICTA 2009). APICTA is an international award competition which is held to generate the innovation and creativity in information and communication technology, include to increase the relationship in economy and trade, facilitate the transfer of technology, and also offer good business opportunity through a presentation to the investor and for those who interest.
This event was followed by participants from 16 countries in Asia Pacific. Every year on APICTA, the awards are given to the best innovators in information and communication technology. And in 2009, APICTA was held in Melbourne, Australia, this event was integrated as part of Asia Pacific Digital Innovation Summit 2009 (APDIS 2009).
There are 16 categories of award in APICTA which is divided into two groups, they are student project and professional project.
In APICTA 2009, Zaitun Time Series participated on research and development category. The award on this category was given to the best innovation of the latest research project which was useful for the public and widely used. The participants of this category were from many countries. In this event, Zaitun Time Series as one of participants from Indonesia presented its project in front of the judges at December 15. Zaitun Time Series project was presented by Rizal Zaini Ahmad Fathony as the leader of developer team. There were four judges came from Australia, Vietnam, Brunei, and Pakistan. The judges gave appreciation to Zaitun Time Series since many users from around the world already used this application to solve their time series data problem. Some judges also actively asked about Zaitun Time Series feature, the use of the application, and the roadmap for next development.
The result of the competition was announced in gala dinner on Thursday, December 17. Zaitun Time Series did not win the award but only awarded as the nominee of research and development category. The winner of this category was awarded to the participant from Australia with “Rapid Passenger Tracking” by Innovation Science Pty Ltd.
Although Zaitun Time Series did not win the award, but the participation of Zaitun Time Series in APICTA 2009 has given a lot of experience and generated the ideas for the next development.
